He Said, She Said

It's the same old routine, every morning: she said, he said. I stagger out of bed at the crack of dawn so I can get a quick hike in with my dogs. As I walk down the hallway, the old dog plods sleepily along but the younger 7 pound rat terrier is running up the back of my legs and bouncing off me arse. "Let's go!", she says. "Throw my ball!", she says. And then I hit the kitchen where the youngest of  my mob, a large cat, is heading outside for the morning as the old timer is finally coming home. Another 7 pound brat, the old timer starts in with his relentless meowing. He has, after all, been away all night, presumably hunting, but who would know? "Feed me, already", he says, over and over, pawing at me with stabbing claws. And all this before the kids even get out of bed!
