"To be gorgeous, and high and true and fine and fluffy and moist and sticky and lovely, all you have to do is believe that one is gorgeous, and high and true and fine and fluffy and moist and sticky and lovely."
There are those days when you are staring down a blank canvas, and the only thing blanker is your mind. A few days ago I blocked out some time for myself and made a promise that I would have 4 new canvases drawn up by the end of the day. To my rescue... two amazing women. I am always humbled by the strong, brave women who model for me. They are not professional models, but rather women who are willing to bare their bodies and souls to me. It gives me the courage every time to face down that blank canvas (or four of them).
I'm well known for painting very colorful images. But before I reach for the tubes of color, I begin with grease pencil sketches and grey scale washes.
These four canvases will keep me busy for the next couple of months. I should be finished just in time for the annual Stinking Fish Studio Tour.
